Solar Battery Review

site6If your planning on getting the most for your solar panel kit you will need to get yourself some good batteries to store all that free green energy. A lot of people have problems with solar because they spend a lot on the panel etc and then they use standard lead batteries

You can do it by all means, but just remember they require regular maintenance and testing and topping up with distilled water, so always keep some distilled water just in case you need it.

Some people prefer deep cell marine batteries, but honestly having used them myself I have found them to be lacking after a while.

I would recommend getting a AGM  (Absorbed glass mat) battery

One of the best ones on the market today for its price is the Vmaxtanks VMAX SLR155 AGM 12v Deep Cycle SLA Rechargeable battery.

See some of the specifications below

  • 12V AGM Deep Cycle
  • Military Grade custom made plates
  • Float Service Life span of 10 to 12 years
  • Designed for 99% recombination capabilities; no dangerous fumes or gases.
  • 10-12 year life span

This battery can be charged via a standard charger  if needed for any emergency backup situation.

Personally I would recommend getting one of these to start with and then when your comfortable upgrade, and get the set of two, four or eight, depending on your power needs

For a battery that is going to stand the test of time and keep everything running at full capacity I would recommend the VMAX SLR 155 AGM 12v. Avoid inferior lead batteries if you can, it will save you lots of hassle in the long run
